Our Lady of Light and St Osyth, Clacton on Sea

A monolithic Catholic church of 1904 by FW Tasker, built in the neo-Norman style and set right on the High Street. This is the 'Clacton church' that people will remember. However, when I visited it on the day of the 2014 Historic Churches 'Ride and Stride' event it wasn't open, which seemed a shame, not least because it is liturgically imperative for a Catholic church to be accessible to the faithful. Fortunately the United Reformed Church around the corner proved more hospitable. Simon Knott, September 2014
