1825: Mary Ann was born in Higham, Kent. She was baptised on 6th November at St Mary's church. Her parents names were given as James and Sarah Martin, and her father's occupation was noted as labourer.

1847: Mary Ann married John Harrall on the 17th October at St Mary's church, Higham, Kent. Both of them were able to sign the register.


   
 


1851 census:

Mary Ann was twenty-five years old at the time of the 1851 census. The Harrall family were living at Upper Higham, Kent. They appear on the census as Harroll.

her husband John is shown as a farm labourer. He was 34.

Mary Ann was the only child, aged 8 months.

Mary was born at Higham, Kent, as was her daughter. Her husband John was born at Hoo, Kent. The transcript for their entry is here.

 
 


1861 census:

Mary Ann was thirty-five years old at the time of the 1861 census. The Harrall family were living at Upper Higham, Kent.

Her husband John is shown as an agricultural labourer. He was 44.

There were three children. Mary Ann was 10, George was 2 and Sophia was 1 month old. There seems an unusually large gap between the two older children.

Mary was born at Higham, Kent, as were her children. Her husband John was born at Hoo, Kent. The transcript for their entry is here.

 
 


1871 census:

Mary Ann was forty-five years old at the time of the 1871 census. The Harrall family were living at Church Lane, Newington, Kent.

Her husband John is shown as an agricultural labourer. He was 53.

There were four children. Mary Ann was 21, George was 12, Sophia was 10 and Walter was 7.

Mary was born at Higham, Kent, as were her children. Her husband John was born at Hoo, Kent. The transcript for their entry is here.

 
   
   
     



1880:

Mary Ann died on 22nd March in Higham, Kent. She was 55 years old. She was buried at St Mary's church on 28th March.

1887:
Mary Ann's husband John died in Strood, Kent. He was 70 years old. It is likely he was staying with his daughter Mary Ann and her husband George Waters in Broads Terrace, just off of the London Road.
He was buried beside his wife at St Mary's, Higham on 17th November.
